Badge is made of zinc, gold finish on wreath is dark, but still has some small bright gold spots, center is a matte silver. Front side shows some wartime wear with some age to the finish, the detail is still very nice. Backside is all grey with raised "R.K." maker mark, the wide flat tapered pin and the catch are magnetic, hinge is part of the badge and is nonmagnetic.
